EUREKA SPRINGS (KFSM)-- A furry friend saved a family from a house fire early Sunday morning (Dec. 20) at a log cabin on Highway 23 South.

The fire started around 5 a.m., and the sleeping family escaped after they were nudged awake by the family dog, "Rosie."

Fire Chief Randy Ates said one person had minor injuries.

Inspiration Point sent a tanker, a brush truck and four firefighters to assist the Eureka Springs Fire Department in fighting the fire. Firefighters and equipment from the Holiday Island and Clifty Fire Departments also responded to the scene, according to Chief Ates.

The home was a complete loss.

The cause of the fire is still unknown.
