BENTONVILLE (KFSM) -- The spirit of giving continues in Northwest Arkansas as the Kiwanis Club of Bentonville distributes 600 food baskets to families in need this holiday season.

This has been a Christmas Eve tradition for the club for the past 60 years.

Members and volunteers handed out the food baskets at the corner of Main and 6th Street downtown Thursday (Dec. 24). Each basket contained chicken, potatoes, canned food, bread and desserts.

Bentonville resident Rick Stephens said money is tight around the holidays and any help is appreciated.

""It's going to help a lot," Stephens said. "I'm disabled and it takes everything I can to even make it."

Organizers said any extra food will be donated to local food banks.
