FORT SMITH (KFSM) — A local church in Fort Smith is giving away free lunches on Christmas day (Friday, Dec. 25).

Evangel Temple invites anyone who will be alone for Christmas, or can’t afford a meal to be part of their annual Christmas Day Lunch. The church is located on the corner of Dodson and Towson Avenue, next to Sparks Hospital.

Organizers said they have been doing this for over 20 years, and they look forward to helping those in need in the community every year. “It’s just our way of letting everyone know how thankful we are for what we have, and we want to help those who are less fortunate,” said Associate Pastor Matthew Stevenson. “Helping those who are hungry, homeless, hurting or alone. We want to open our doors to them on Christmas.”

Evangel Temple will also be handing out free gloves, coats, sleeping bags and art supplies for kids.

The lunch is happening from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.
