Three Arrested In Connection To Christmas Day Stabbing In Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) — Three men were arrested following a stabbing on Christmas Day (Dec. 25) in Fayetteville, according to arrest reports from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

Police were called to Washington Regional Medical Center where they found Steven McClarty, 27, with a stab wound in his hand and lacerations and bruising around one of his eyes, the police reports state.

McClarty and another witness told police he had been attacked by Justin Larson, 25, and Chase Packwood, 20, in the parking lot of Myers Apartments on Wedington Drive after he told the suspects to leave a unit at West End Apartments that belonged to a friend, according to the reports. The witness said there was a third suspect, later identified as Robert Vanbibber, 34, who she saw holding a knife, the reports state.

McClarty told police he was having trouble staying awake and was vomiting after the suspects hit him in the side of the head with an object and then stabbed him in his hand while he was trying to get his pocket knife, according to the police reports.

Police arrested Larson on Saturday (Dec. 26) and both Packwood and Vanbibber were arrested the following day, the reports show.

Larson is being held at the Washington County Detention Center on $10,000 bond and is facing charges of second-degree battery, aggravated assault and being in concert with two or more people to commit a violent crime, jail logs show.

Packwood and Vanbibber are each being held on $3,500 bond and are both facing charges of second-degree battery, aggravated assault and being in concert with two or more people to commit a violent crime, according to jail logs.
