Former Razorback Basketball Player Arrested On Drug Charges

FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) — Former Razorback basketball player Michael Qualls, 21, was arrested Wednesday (Dec. 30) in Fayetteville and is facing several charges, according to Washington County Detention Center records.

Qualls is facing charges that include misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding, jail records show.

Qualls was doing 83 in a 65 mile per hour zone when he was pulled over on I-49 just before 8 a.m. Wednesday, according to his arrest report.

Officers searched the vehicle after smelling a strong odor of marijuana, the report states. They found a plastic bag with marijuana residue and a rolled marijuana cigar, according to the report. They later realized a necklace belonging to Qualls was also a smoking device, the reports states.

Qualls bond has been set at $1,690 and his arraignment date is scheduled for Jan. 29, 2016, according to jail records.

In April, the Arkansas junior guard announced he would forgo his senior year to turn pro.
