The win was also bolstered by a record setting night for the Hogs, as Alex Collins ensured his name would not be forgotten. Collins would come away with three touchdowns, and 185 yards. The Liberty Bowl was his 10th 100-yard rushing game, tying Darren McFadden's single season record for most 100-yard games. But, the junior running back wasn't done there with setting records. The three scores gave him 20 rushing touchdowns this season, breaking Bill Burnett's record set 46 years ago.
It seemed as though the Liberty Bowl would be a shootout between the Razorbacks and Wildcats early on. Brandon Allen gave up an interception on the Hog's first drive, which took the Wildcats only four plays to capitalize on and strike first. But, Arkansas would answer right back as Collins scored his 18th rushing touchdown of the season to knot the game up.
They'd hold Kansas State to a field goal on their next drive. On the kickoff Collins takes the return 68 yards before he is brought out of bounds. That would set up a 13-yard touchdown run from Jared Cornelius on the end around play. It wouldn't take Collin's long to find the endzone again.
With just over two and a half minutes left before the half, wide receiver Dominique Reed is injured after a 16 yard yard. Reed suffered what was being called a neck injury after a helmet-to-helmet hit on the play. He would be taken off the field on a stretcher and to a local hospital.
The Wildcats would stop what would have been a career long field goal from Cole Hedlund as the first half expires. Arkansas took a 24-13 lead into the intermission. The Wildcats would start with that momentum in the second half as Kody Cook finds a wide open Winston Dimel for a 48 yard touchdown, as they cut the Razorback lead down to four.
Allen would throw his 30th touchdown pass of the season with a bullet to Jeremy Sprinkle to give Arkansas back a double digit lead. Sprinkle had four catches for 81 yards after that endzone grab. He'd finish the day with four receptions for 81 yards, and one touchdown. Allen would finish his final game as an Arkansas Razorback 20-26 for 315 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.
Kody Walker would put the game out of reach for the Wildcats after running in a 10-yard touchdown for a 22 point lead with just under five minutes remaining. Arkansas would put the nail in the coffin for K-State after Joe Hubener came in at quarterback and was picked off by Ryan Pulley.
Arkansas would finish the season with their most wins since 2011, with a 8-5 record.
