FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) — The wife of Backroad Anthem singer Craig Strickland, whose body was found on the shores of an Oklahoma lake Monday (Jan. 4), shared a video from their wedding day on her Instagram.
Strickland and his friend Chase Morland were reported missing Dec. 27, 2015 after going duck hunting on Kaw Lake in Kay County in northern Oklahoma. Morland’s body was recovered Dec. 28 along with their capsized boat and Strickland’s dog Sam, who was found alive.
Hours after Strickland’s body was recovered three days into the new year, Helen Strickland, his wife of about a year, shared a video given to her by her husband on the day of their wedding.

“On the day of our wedding Craig had me watch a video he had made to tell me how much he loved me. I am so thankful for technology in this moment because I will always have this. I watched this privately prior to walking down the aisle, and so now I want to share this small excerpt with all of you… Thank you Lord for sharing Craig Strickland with me. You allowed me to borrow him on this earth, but he was always Yours. I will forever cherish our year of marriage. This was truly the type of man you were and will always be remembered as. I love you Craig Michael.”
In the video, Strickland tells his soon-to-be wife: “There will be times when we’re sitting in our car and stuff and you don’t know this, but sometimes I’ll look over at you and be like ‘this is the person God has created for me’ and that’s really special to me and I couldn’t be more lucky.”
