FORT SMITH (KFSM) — A Midwest City, Okla. man, who was investigated by the FBI and Fort Smith Police Department in March 2015, was sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole on Thursday (Jan. 7).
Jack Lambeth, 58, received an additional 10 years because of his sex offender status, according to a release from U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Arkansas Kenneth Elser.
The Fort Smith Police Department had begun conducting online investigations, directed at individuals who have used the Internet to target minors for sex, the release stated.
He began chatting online with an undercover officer, and made plans to travel into Arkansas to engage in sexual acts with minors, according to the release
Lambeth was arrested after making contact with the undercover officer at a motel on March 28, the release stated. He later pleaded guilty to crossing a state line with the intent to engage in a sexual act with a minor under 12 years old.
It was revealed at Lambeth’s sentencing that he had previously been convicted of raping a minor and also a federal child pornography case, according to the release.
