SEQUOYAH COUNTY (KFSM) — A driver who was saved by the Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Department during a swift-water rescue Friday (Jan. 8) was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

The sheriff said the man was uninjured when he was pulled from the vehicle.

The Sequoyah County performed the swift water rescue after a call came in around 11:15 a.m. about a vehicle that had been swept from a low-water bridge.

The low-water bridge is located on Drake Road, and it has been flooded since the heavy rains came at the end of December, the sheriff said. Another vehicle has also been stranded in the same area since December.
