SEBASTIAN COUNTY (KFSM) - A volunteer program is set to be underway on Friday (Jan.8) for the four-legged friends at the Sebastian County Humane Society. This is a program that they hope will increase adoption rates this year and also bring the community together.

The "Tails and Trails" program lets volunteers walk or run a dog for a day. The volunteers can take them to any park or neighborhood around town and even let them go hiking. Each dog will be checked out with a harness or a collar and a leash.
This a program that brings the community together and also to help find the animals a new home.

Workers with the humane society said they hope this program increases adoption rates and improve their physical and mental health.

The orientation starts at noon on Friday. All you have to bring is your I.D. Then you can learn all the rules and regulations about the volunteer program.

The humane society plans to hold orientations for this program. They will be held on the last Saturday of every month at 12:30 p.m. over at the Sebastian County Humane Society.
