FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) — Part of Interstate-49 in Fayetteville will be shut down during the day starting Tuesday (Jan. 12).

The inside southbound lane between Exit 66 (Garland Avenue) and Exit 62 (Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard) will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily, according to a press release from the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department.

The lane closure will allow crews to repair drainage inlets on the inside shoulder through that stretch of I-49. According to the release, the repairs are expected to take five days, pending favorable weather.

The highway department urges drivers to be prepared to slow down or stop through the construction zone, and to obey the posted speed limits.
