BENTONVILLE (KFSM) — Part of Sam’s Club planned “realignment in strategy” has resulted in multiple employees getting laid off.
According to Bill Durling of Walmart Media Relations, 120 salaried Sam’s Club corporate employees were laid off Friday (Jan. 15), and 50 were at the Bentonville office. The remaining 70 worked in “field organization” outside of that office.
The employees were encouraged to apply for other positions at Sam’s Club or Walmart. Staff unable to find another position within Sam’s Club or Walmart will be given severance pay, according to Durling.
The company had discussed a realignment initiative in October 2015, which led to the store closures.
Durling stated there are 1500 employees at the Sam’s Club Home Office in Bentonville.
