FORT SMITH (KFSM) - Folks will be gathering together on Wednesday (Jan.27) to remember the life of Kaleb Watson who was killed tragically in a shooting over the weekend.

A small gathering will be taking place on the UA - Fort Smith campus where Kaleb Watson was a student. He was pursuing his college degree in engineering.

Watson was from the small town of Lamar, Arkansas. Watson's nickname in high school was "Gumby" it was even printed in the yearbook.

Lamar High School Principal Mitch Harris was shocked to hear of his former students death during a home invasion robbery. Harris recalls the last time he saw Watson just a few weeks ago. "I saw him in Walmart... came up to him and gave him a hug and asked how he was doing," said Harris. He adds, "He was real excited, talked about getting an apartment in Fort Smith and talked about doing his internship."

The memorial service will take place this evening at the bell tower on the UA - Fort Smith campus. The ceremony starts 5:00 p.m.
