Arkansas Women Lose Second Straight Overtime Contest

Florida scored final six points of overtime to steal road win

FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) – Arkansas has been neck-and-neck with their past two opponents for 40 minutes but the next five minutes took it out of the Razorbacks.

For the second straight SEC contest, Arkansas stumbled in overtime as Florida escaped Bud Walton Arena with a 71-66 win.

Arkansas, who led by as much as 10 in the second half, had the wind taken out of their sails when Simone Westbrook hit a runner in the paint with 0.6 seconds left in the fourth quarter.

The Razorbacks led on three different occasions in overtime, including a 66-65 lead with less than 20 seconds left but the Gators scored six points in the final 17 seconds to steal the game. Florida went 4-of-4 from the foul line in the final six seconds to ice the game.

Arkansas had four players in double figures, led by Jessica Jackson with 16 points while Kelsey Brooks added 14. Jackson, Melissa Wolff and Alecia Cooley each finished with 10 rebounds for the Razorbacks. Florida was paced by Eleanna Christinaki with 16 points while Carla Batchelor added 11 points off the bench.

Turnovers continued to plague the Razorbacks as they committed 24 in the game and have turned the ball over 52 times in their past two games, both were overtime losses. Arkansas also struggled at the foul line as they hit just 9-of-18.
