CRAWFORD COUNTY (KFSM) — Fire crews battled a grass fire that spread quickly toward the Ozark National Forest near Mulberry on Tuesday afternoon (Feb. 2).
According to the Arkansas Forestry Commission, an air tanker was brought in to assist putting out the fire from above.
Adriane Barnes with the forestry commission said there were 50 acres burned and one house damaged, but not burned.
The AFC did not have any additional details regarding the cause of the fire, but Barnes said that it is not uncommon for grass fires to spread quickly during the dry months of February-April and August-November.
There were no injuries reported.
