PEA RIDGE (KFSM) - Brent Ferguson, a senior at Pea Ridge High School, signed with Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri on Wednesday in front of friends and family in the Blackhawk Library.

Ferguson signed to play football with the Bearcats. The senior tackle helped lead his high school team to the 4A State semi final game, the furthest the Blackhawks have ever been in the playoffs.

"I picked that school spiritually because I'm very strong rooted in my faith," Ferguson said. "That met me spiritual needs the most. Financially that's going to help me out a lot. I'm virtually going to be left paying nothing for college. Physically they're going to take care of me. I've had my knee injury, but they're going to take care of me through that too."

Ferguson had suffered a knee injury several times in his final season, but says that's not an issue with his football career moving forward. He will receive a full-ride scholarship from SBU.
