SILOAM SPRINGS (KFSM) – Wednesday (Feb. 3) afternoon, the Commander in Chief of the Veterans of Foreign Wars made his first stop of his five day trip to Arkansas.

“It is quite unusual for a commander to come to a small post in a small community," said Frank Lee, Commander of Post 1674.

National Commander In Chief John Biedrzycki visited with veterans for two hours in Siloam Springs.

"Veterans are the salt of the earth," Biedrzycki said. “The Veterans of Foreign Wars has 7,000 V-F-W units across all 50 states, and in 17 foreign countries,”

Biedrzycki applauded the veterans of Northwest Arkansas for their service both to the nation, and to their individual communities.

"These posts are active in their community, trying to support their community,” Biedrzycki said. “And, they try and support the veterans who live there.”

“This is such a great honor to have a spokesman for 108 million overseas war veterans, to come to a small community in Siloam Springs to honor us," Lee said.

Biedrzycki also had the honor of retiring the first American flag at the posts new drop-off location.
