SPRINGDALE (KFSM) -- The Springdale Police Department released surveillance video Thursday (Feb. 4) of a pickup truck that had been set on fire days earlier.

The pickup truck was parked on Mill Street when it was set on fire Jan. 31, according to police.

In the surveillance video a vehicle could be seen pulling up beside the Code Enforcement Division pickup and a fire starts moments later. The fire blistered the paint in the truck bed and melted a brake light, according to police.

John Wiggin, 58, came to the Springdale Police Department Wednesday after hearing he was considered a suspect, police said. Wiggin initially denied setting the fire, but later admitted to mixing brake fluid and chlorine and tossing it in the back of the pickup truck, according to police.

Wiggin told officers he had done it out of spite because Code Enforcement had repeatedly issued him tickets, police said.

Wiggin is facing a felony arson charge, according to his arrest report.

The Code Enforcement Division "strives to serve the citizens of Springdale by protecting personal values and property rights from unsafe, unsanitary and unsightly conditions," according to the City of Springdale website.
