CENTERTON (KFSM) — A former Centerton police officer, who pleaded guilty to misdemeanor steroid possession Thursday (Feb. 11), is also facing several charges, including driving while intoxicated, in Garland County, according to court records.
Colby Jason Miser, 36, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and was given a one-year suspended sentence, 40 hours of community service that he has to complete in six months, and $1,420 in court costs.
Miser was fired from the Centerton Police Department Oct. 20 for possession of a schedule III controlled substance and lying during an investigation, according to his termination paperwork.
Centerton Police Chief Cody Harper found anabolic steroids in Miser’s department-issued vehicle after Miser suffered a seizure while working out at the CrossFit Reverence gym in Rogers on Sept. 18, 2015, Miser’s termination letter states. This was the second seizure he’d had in the last month.
While Miser was taken to the hospital, Harper and another officer went to get his patrol vehicle from the gym where they found a prescription bottle with a ripped off label containing 18 pills that were later identified as stanozolol, according to the letter.
Stanozolol is a synthetic steroid that promotes muscle growth that was withdrawn from the U.S. market in 2010, according to the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency.
Investigation notes from Arkansas State Police state Miser accused another law enforcement officer of giving him the steroids and said he then gave the steroids to yet another law enforcement officer. Records show he later retracted those statements and after interviewing both of the officers ASP determined there was no reason to charge them.
Records show Miser is now facing several charges following an arrest in Garland County on Feb. 1, 2016. The charges include driving while intoxicated, speeding, no seat belt, improper lane change, no liability insurance and refusal to submit to a chemical test.
Miser’s arrest report states he was speeding and running vehicles off the road on Highway 70 going toward Hot Springs. Miser was going 73 miles per hour in a 55 zone and was weaving into both lanes and onto the shoulder, according to the arrest report.
After pulling Miser over, the officer smelled alcohol in the vehicle and Miser was arrested after failing several sobriety tests, the report states. At the jail, Miser’s breath test registered a blood alcohol content level of .169, according to the report. After seeing the results Miser refused to complete a second breath sample.
Records show Miser is scheduled to appear in court on the charges in Garland County on Feb. 22.
