Lady Bulldogs Looking To Roll To State Title

The Fayetteville Lady Bulldogs bowling team look to cap off a perfect season with a state championship this week.

FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) - The Fayetteville Bulldogs bowling team is heading to state riding a perfect season.

"The biggest thing I can say is they're consistent," coach Tim Miller said. "They're consistent. They're good."

But it hasn't been without it's struggles, especially when it came to earning their conference championship.

"Well in conference we were up the whole time except for the end," senior Cora Watson said. "We were down by like a pin. Then going into the second match, we were down by 30 pins. So, the last match we had to step it up, and we ended up taking the win."

The Lady Bulldogs head to Cabot on Wednesday, which is not only hosting this week's state tournament, but is also home to the defending state champions.

"The other teams like Cabot, they kind of have that home field advantage because they know what the lane setups are going to be. We just have to adapt to it and adjust, and do it in a hurry," Miller said.

"Whenever we play here we get used to the lanes and everything," junior Bella Bain said. "I'm sure they're used to it and adapt more to it."

"The ball will like turn certain, and it's drier in one spot than it is in the other lane. So you just have to remember it, and just throw it the pattern you think will work," Watson said.

One thing is certain, they're ready to bring home the schools sixth state title this season.

"We've had lots of state titles this year. So, bowling would just add another one," Bain said.

The 7A-6A state tournament begins Wednesday at 11 a.m. at All-Farm Bowl in Cabot.
