CARROLL COUNTY (KFSM) — The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim of a deadly shooting Monday (Feb. 22).
Christopher Kevin Butler, 43, is accused of shooting and killing John Catlin Keck, 30, according to the sheriff’s office.
Butler was arrested Feb. 20 on suspicion of first-degree murder and tampering with evidence, the sheriff’s office said.
Deputies said they received a report of a disturbance involving trespassers at Stone Wall Mountain north of Eureka Springs. They said while they were responding, the caller notified dispatch that there had been a shooting.
Deputies said they located the caller, later identified as Butler, and discovered a body in the driver’s seat of his vehicle. The official cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner.
Butler is being held at the Carroll County Detention Center and the investigation is ongoing.
