FORT SMITH (KFSM) -- Mother Maranda Davidson said she never knew a simple Facebook post of her three kids playing football would get so much attention.
"I looked out my big glass window and I see the cops out here playing football with my kids. I thought, wow what's going on? What have they done?" Davidson said.
Davidson posted the picture of her kids playing football in her Fort Smith yard on Friday (Feb. 26). What made the post popular she said, is two Fort Smith police officers who showed up to play.
Patrolmen Eric Hoegh and A. Shea Taylor were on a call near the home. Once it wrapped up they said they saw the kids outside playing.
"We try to hang out with the younger generation a little bit and talk to them and let them see more of a positive side of what we do," Hoegh said.
"We had a lot of fun. One of them is actually wanting to be a cop when he grows up, even though he's got a family member who is a firefighter," Taylor said, laughing. "He's choosing to go our way."
The two officers have been with the Fort Smith police force for about one year.
"I want to say thank you for taking just five minutes out of their day," Davidson said.
