FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) — The region’s first cat cafe is coming to Fayetteville this spring.

The Purr Catfe & Lounge is scheduled to open April 6, according to their website. The business will be located at 125 E Township St.

At the catfe, or cat cafe, people can pay an hourly rate to spend spend time with cats and kittens.

Spending time with the cats is part of “purr therapy,” which is harnessing the healing power of cat purrs, their website states. Benefits include lowering stress and blood pressure, reducing the risk of heart attacks, decreasing dsypondea symptoms, and healing bones, muscles, tendons and ligaments.

Purr will be partnering with local shelters for their cat supply. All the cats will be adoptable.

Prices start at $8 per hour of kitten cuddling, and yes, there are gift cards available.
