NORTHWEST ARKANSAS (KFSM) -- Following Super Tuesday, three different races in Northwest Arkansas will come down to a runoff on Mar. 22.

In Benton County, Paul Pillaro will face Shawn Holloway for the GOP nomination for sheriff.

In Washington County, there is a runoff for Constable Two, as well as for Representative for District 88.

The District 88 runoff features Clint Penzo and Isaac Foley.

Heading into the primaries, the Washington County Election Commission assumed there would be at least one runoff.

“Just as we are preparing for the primary election, we are preparing for the runoff as well,” said Jennifer Price, Election Commissioner.

Both Foley and Penzo said they knew a runoff was likely as they entered the race.

“A lot of people said ‘get ready for that runoff’,” Foley said.

“I knew it would be a strong possibility,” Penzo said. “Any time you have three candidates, odds are you are going to have a runoff.”

Penzo edged Foley out for the most votes in the primary. However, neither candidate successfully obtained 50 percent, plus one of the vote.

Now, with Philip Humbard eliminated from the race, the duo will return to the campaign trail. The candidate with the most votes will win the State Representative seat, as there were no candidates from other parties.

“[I am] going back door-to-door, and trying to get as many people to vote as possible,” Penzo said.

“[My plan] is going to be about talking to them, sending them texts and emails and phone calls, and making sure they get out and vote,” Foley said.

Price said the election commission only expects four percent of voters to turnout for the runoffs.
