Very heavy rain will fall Tuesday and Wednesday as a strong area of low pressure makes it’s way across the southern United States.
Rain totals will likely exceed 4-6″ by the time this event wraps up late in the week. There are some indications that isolated spots may pick up as much as 10″ of rain.
Flash flooding will be a concern Tuesday night and Wednesday. Expect flash flood watches and warnings to be issued as some point this week.
Forecast rain amounts will be excessive.
Graphically, you can see how the rain bulls-eye is shaping up in the middle to western side of Arkansas.
The upper level winds will be oriented from the south to the north with the jet stream providing an ample feed of rich tropical moisture.
The upper low will slowly close off and drift east by late-week so while the rain chances will continue into Friday, the risk of flooding will be diminished as the rain becomes more sporadic.
