LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) — An Arkansas lawmaker is pushing for stricter puppy mill regulations after nearly 300 dogs were rescued from a suspected puppy mill in Madison County.

Last week’s bust riled up one state representative who tried passing this type of bill last year. He says he is beyond frustrated and hopes his research will help present a better bill that will toughen breeding laws.

“Here we are again,” was Rep. Jim Sorvillo’s, R-District 32, reaction after finding out about the puppy mill raid. “I don’t think the people of Arkansas are saying this is what we want.”

As an animal lover himself, Rep. Sorvillo first introduced House Bill 1620 to regulate the breeding of animals within the state of Arkansas, but the bill was pulled and sent into interim study.
