FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) -- One of the most traveled roads in Northwest Arkansas is getting a makeover.

Construction on College Avenue in Fayetteville began Monday (March 7). However, crews have had to take a break on the work shortly after, due to the rain.

When construction resumes, it could cause some delays for drivers. College Avenue will be down to one lane of traffic during construction, which will be on weekdays from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to a city press release. Work hours will be extended during the summer months.

Construction will span from North Street to Maple Street and includes the installation of a 10-foot sidewalk, replacement of the curb and cutter, and removal and burial of several overhead power lines, the release states.

It'll be convenient for commuters in the long run, but in the meantime, people who frequently have to travel that way might want to find an alternate route.

The city of Fayetteville said construction should finish around November.
