LITTLE ROCK (KFSM) — Teams of meteorologists from the National Weather Service in Little Rock and Memphis surveyed damage across Arkansas Monday (March 14) and Tuesday and determined at least six tornadoes touched down in several counties during Sunday’s severe weather breakout.
An EF-1 tornado, with wind speeds between 86 and 110 miles per hour, touched down west of Waldron in Scott County just before 4 p.m. The tornado was on the ground for 4.8 miles and left behind uprooted trees and damaged several buildings. Video of the tornado, shot by Mike Lance, is included below.
Another EF-1 tornado touched down at Lake Ouachita in Montgomery County just after 4:45 p.m. and was on the ground for 1.7 miles. The tornado damaged boat docks at the Mountain Harbor Resort and Spa, as well as several homes. A photo of the tornado is included below.
A third EF-1 tornado touched down in Desha County just after 9:20 p.m. According to the NWS, the tornado started in Chicot County and then traveled 2.6 miles northeast into Desha County where it uprooted trees and downed power lines.
The Delta Regional Unit, a state prison, in Dermott, which is in Chicot County also reported roof damage and damage to the gymnasium and several utility buildings.
An EF-0 tornado, which has wind speeds between 65 and 85 miles per hour, was added to the list Tuesday morning. The tornado touched down in Jefferson County between Grady and Moscow around 6:30 p.m. and was on the ground for half a mile. Video of the tornado, shot by Remmel Grayson, is included below.
According to the NWS in Memphis, EF-0 tornadoes also touched down in Lexa and Marvell, which are both towns in Phillips County.
There were no injuries reported.
