MOUNTAINBURG (KFSM) — A drug abuse prevention program has purchased a prescription drop box for the city of Mountainburg.
According to a release from Harbor House Inc., high school students in Crawford County had a higher percentage of prescription drug abuse than that of the state percentages, based on a 2014-2015 APNA(Arkansas Prevention Needs Assessment Student Survey.
The drop box would provide a safe place for residents in Mountainburg and other areas of Crawford County to take leftover medications to prevent drug abuse, as well as accidental harm to or death of children and pets, the release stated.
Harbor House, Inc. will be donating the new drop box as part of the National Take-Back Initiative.
A dedication celebration will be held on April 8 at 11:30 a.m. at the Mountainburg Police Station.
