COLUMBIA (KFSM)- The No. 13 Razorbacks were looking for their first SEC win of the season Sunday against South Carolina, but they fell short losing to the No. 12 Gamecocks 8-6. South Carolina swept the three game series after wining Friday’s game (10-6) and Saturday’s game (6-2).

Arkansas looked like they were going to be able to come away with a win Sunday, but South Carolina rallied late breaking a five run deficit to win. The Hogs led in the third off of Carson Shaddy’s two-run single making the score 3-1. And shortly after in the fifth Clark Eagan had a RBI single to give Arkansas a big 6-1 lead.

In the eighth inning  things took a turn for the worse for the Hogs. South Carolina’s John Jones hit a three-run home run giving the Gamecocks the lead 8-6. Jones’ homer came off of Arkansas closer Zach Jackson, who allowed four earned runs on three hits and  five walks in 2.2 innings. Jackson took his second loss of the year making him 1-2.

Arkansas is now 15-6 overall and 0-3 in SEC play.

The Razorbacks will be back at Baum this Friday at 6:30 p.m. to take on Auburn for a three game series.
