FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) — A former Razorback was arrested for allegedly abusing a woman inside a Fayetteville apartment on Tuesday night (March 22), according to Fayetteville Police.

Lawrence “Wess” Oneal, 35, was a former defensive end for the Arkansas Razorbacks, playing from 1999-2002. He is facing domestic battery and false imprisonment charges.

According to a preliminary report, Oneal got in an argument with a woman he knew on Tuesday night. The report states that woman told Oneal that she wanted to stay outside because she thought it was safer, but he picked her up and took her into an apartment.

Inside, he shoved her against a door and then tried to put her in a choke hold, according to the report. The woman got away from him, but he grabbed her face and pinned her against a chair.

The report states that Oneal later slammed her against the couch, and hit her in the face with an open hand while shouting, “Now that’s a hit!”

Police said the woman had injuries, including finger marks on her cheek bones.

Police arrested him later that evening. He was taken to the Washington County Detention Center.
