GREENWOOD (KFSM)- The Lady Bulldogs took a little more than a week off of the diamond for spring break, but the time off didn't seem to affect Greenwood as they shut out Van Buren Tuesday 12-0.

The old coach`s cliché stats that if the other team doesn`t score, they can`t win. Greenwood opponents are not only being shutout...they`re being being no hit. Pitcher Victoria taylor threw her fifth no hitter of the season today as the Lady Bulldogs posted a big win over Van Buren.
"When the offense does their job it's a huge weight off of my shoulders and I just know I can sit back and do what I do," said Senior pitcher Victoria Taylor on the conference win.

Taylor was able to keep Van Buren scoreless, something that gives more confidence to her teammates in the diamond.

"We have a lot of confidence in Victoria," said Senior Phoebe Ulmer about Victoria Taylor. "She is doing really good for us we are always behind her when ever she needs us."

Taylor's arm lead Greenwood to the be the 6-A state champs last year, and this year with the Bulldogs starting out 9-1 overall and 3-0 in conference play Taylor plans to once again lead Greenwood to their second-consecutive state title.

"She's really focused this year on the mound for us," said Head Coach Ronnie Sockey on Taylor's senior year. "She's being a leader in the circle and getting the job done for us throwing a lot of strikes and keeping the pitch count down."

Greenwood softball has only won two state titles in their program's history, once in 1999 and the other one was last year in 2015. Before Victoria graduates, she wants to add another state title to their list.

"My goal is to take this team to state," said Taylor on taking her team back to state. "To be able to finish what we  have done and be able to push the girls and be there for the girls and know that we all can do it."
Greenwood will be participating in the River City Rumble in Van Buren this Friday and Saturday.
