Mother Arrested In Connection To Infant’s Death; Father Already In Custody

CLARKSVILLE (KFSM) -- The mother of a six-month-old infant was arrested Tuesday (March 29) after the child was found dead in February, according to the Clarksville Police Department.

Officers arrested Valeria Irene Rivera on suspicion of felony permitting the abuse of a minor nearly a month after the child's father was also arrested on suspicion of second-degree battery, according to police. The charge against Brandon Lavert Patton has since been upgraded to first-degree battery, police said.

The baby was found dead Feb. 25 at an apartment complex on Shady Grove Road and investigators are waiting for the results of the autopsy, according to police.

Rivera's bond has been set at $5,000 cash and Patton's bond was set at $500,000 cash, police said.
