Arkansas Inmate Shot, Killed During Escape Attempt

LINCOLN COUNTY, Ark. (KTHV) — An inmate with the Arkansas Department of Correction was shot and killed during an escape attempt on Thursday.

Christopher Wilson, 41, was fatally shot during an escape attempt from the Varner Unit in Grady.

Wilson was serving a sentence of life without parole for two counts of capital murder out of Faulkner County.

Court records state that he began serving his sentence in 2003 after pleading guilty to the murder of Pamela Reed of Saltillo and her 8-month-old son, Lucas in 2002. He also had convictions in Lonoke County for drugs, theft and weapons charges.

Arkansas State Police and Arkansas Department of Correction are on the scene.
