Naturals Fall In Season Opener To Frisco

Roughriders held Northwest Arkansas to just four hits in shutout

SPRINGDALE (KFSM) - After all the fanfare and hoopla surrounding opening day ended, Arvest Ballpark was fairly quiet when it came to offense.

Northwest Arkansas and Frisco combined for just nine hits but the Roughriders scratched across a pair of runs to take a 2-0 win in the season opener.

Zane Evans provided most of the offense for the Naturals as he went 2-for-4 including a double in the fifth but the rest of the lineup went a combined 2-for-26 and struckout seven times.

Frisco plated the first run of the game as a ball was lost in the sun in the third inning then tacked on an insurance run in the ninth on a sacrifice fly from Zach Cone.

Alec Mills was saddled with the tough loss as he threw five innings for the Naturals while allowing one run on four hits and struck out seven. Frisco's Frank Lopez got the win after tossing six scoreless innings and struck out seven.
