FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) - The question everyone has been asking is who will be starting behind center for the Arkansas Razorbacks this upcoming season. There's still no answer after Saturday's scrimmage, but one guy is starting to lead the pack.
"Really all the Q's kind of had a moment," coach Bret Bielema said. "They all I thought had a series maybe where they did some really good things. Austin [Allen] has been probably the most consistent guy all spring. Raef [Peavy] had been really good. Today was a little up and down day. Ty [Storey] by far had his best day today I think."
Allen may be the QB front runner so far. He s looked like the seasoned veteran on the field among the others Saturday.
"He definitely has the best comprehension of what's supposed to go on as a quarterback, at what time, in what order in what fashion. He very seldom makes a mental error," Bielema said.
The junior is focused on just that, and nothing else around him.
"I think he's playing the game within himself. He's not worried about what type of competition he's in. He's just playing football," Bielema said.
Charleston native, Ty Storey also made a good case for himself out there for that starting job.
"The best redone player of the game was Ty Storey who had an off the edge blitz right in his face, and he threw it out of bounds. You know, that goes from a 2nd and possibly 20 with maybe a turnover, to a 2nd and 10 manageable 16 yard line," Bielema said.
But there's still plenty of spring practice left before any decisions are made. The Red and White game will wrap things up on April 23rd with a more clearer answer as to who will take over the reigns.
