ALMA, Ark. (KFSM) – Emergency management personnel in Crawford County trained on what to do in the event of a terrorist situation near Lake Alma on Saturday (April 9).
The drill tested local response capability by simulating a small 12-seat passenger plane being hijacked and crashed near Alma City Park.
Chris Hoover, a Crawford County Emergency Management intern, drafted the drill and created the response plan which was used during Saturday’s scenario.
“You do not want to be caught in a situation without having the proper training and proper guidance,” said Chris Hoover, a Crawford County Emergency Management intern. “Having these drills really test us and let us know what areas we need to improve on.”
During the exercise, Crawford County Emergency Management was joined by the Red Cross Army Corps, the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department and Alma Police and Fire Departments.
