AUGUSTA, Ga. (KFSM)- 28-year-old Danny Willett was the last player to accept his invitation to the Masters, and today he was one of the last players expected to be seen in the green jacket.

Willett’s amazing journey to the final round almost didn’t happen. The United Kingdom native’s wife was expecting their first child to be born April 10th, but instead the child was born two-weeks early allowing him to compete.

The first-time father posted a bogey-free 5-under 67 in the final round to secure his first-ever major.

Jordan Spieth came into the final round Sunday in the lead by just one-stroke. Spieth ran off four-consecutive birdies to end the front nine, building a five-shot lead, but soon after that things went downhill for the 2015 Masters Champion.

On the 10th and 11th tees Spieth bogeyed both holes, and continued the trend getting a quadruple-bogey on the par-3 12th, hitting successive shots into the creek.

Willett has won four times on the European tour simply continued to climb up the leader board and shot a 67 to succeed by three strokes over the field, with a five-under 283 total.
