ARKANSAS/ OKLAHOMA (KFSM) — Monday (April 11) is National Pet Day! Not only is it a day meant to appreciate your own pets, but to also take some time to think about other animals who may not be fortunate enough to have a home.
National Pet Day started in 2005 to encourage people to pay extra attention to pets that may not be receiving much love and affection.
Organizers said you can celebrate by donating supplies or money to a local shelter. You could even adopt a pet from a local animal shelter! And if you already have a furry friend, you could buy your pet a fun new toy….or two…or five.
No matter the animal. Whether it be a dog, cat, horse, turtle, fish, etc., be sure to give them some extra love today!
