FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) -- A popular church in Fayetteville will soon be getting an expansion.

The congregation of the Cross Church Fayetteville campus on Wedington Drive has been overflowing, with about 2,200 people currently attending weekly services.

On Sunday (April 10), Cross Church revealed plans for their new facility, which will be located at Interstate-49 and Wedington Drive. The church will be 57,500 square feet -- nearly four times larger than their current facility.

The new location will have 900 seats in the worship center, along with additional rooms for up to 300 children and 130 preschoolers. There will also be an area for children with special needs.

"We believe this new location provides us an unbelievable opportunity to further reach into our community to meet the needs of people in our community," said Nick Floyd, teaching pastor at Cross Church. "We really  need a spiritual center for our community where they can hear about Christ and what he can do for their lives."

The new facility is expected to cost about $19 million total, said Floyd. The J.B. Hunt family has donated $8 million to help with construction of the project. The church also had another $5 million donated, so they're currently looking to raise about $5-6 million more.

There is no set date to when the new church will be finished. However Cross Church is hoping to have it completed by late summer or early fall.

"We just love the city of Fayetteville, and we're excited to continue our ministry here," said Floyd. "We look forward to what God's going to do in the future."
