LEFLORE COUNTY (KFSM) — A jury was selected for the Elvis Thacker murder trial on Monday afternoon (April 11).
After consulting with the judge, the final decision was made by the prosecution and defense around 4 p.m.
The jury is made up of six men and six women. Three alternate jurors were also picked Monday evening, and several more are expected to be chosen.
Court officials said more alternates will be selected than usual since the trial is expected to last longer than a month.
Jury selection started last Monday (April 4).
The judge has ordered the 12 jurors to report to the jury room at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday (April 12), when opening statements and evidence will be presented.
