Arkansas Holds Off Louisiana-Monroe In North Little Rock

NORTH LITTLE ROCK (KFSM) – Carson Shaddy scored twice and Arkansas pitching allowed just four hits as they topped Louisiana-Monroe 3-1 at Dickey-Stephens Park for a nonconference win.

The Razorbacks (21-12) got a solid start from Blaine Knight, who grew up about 30 minutes away in Bryant, as he threw three scoreless innings and struck out three. Josh Alberius picked up his third win as he threw two inning of hitless ball and struck out four of the six batters he faced.

Luke Bonfield broke a scoreless tie in the fifth as his double to the left-centerfield gap reach the wall, driving in Shaddy. Shaddy then gave Arkansas a 2-1 lead in the seventh as he scored on a Cullen Gassaway RBI sacrifice fly to right. Shaddy made the play possible as he advanced to third on a ground ball to third base earlier in the inning.

Arkansas no must try to find a way to get SEC wins as No. 3 Florida will be in Fayetteville for a three game series starting on Thursday.
