FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) — A fire that started in the basement of Pomfret Hall on the University of Arkansas campus is now under control.

The Fayetteville fire department went to residence hall on Wednesday afternoon (April 13) after smoke was reported coming from the basement.

The department reported that the fire is now under control, and students were let back into the building shortly before 4:45 p.m.

Five fire engines, as well as Central EMS and UAPD responded to the fire.

Stadium and Clinton Drives were briefly shut down while crews worked to put out the fire.
