BENTON COUNTY (KFSM) — Both lanes of Interstate 49 will be temporarily shut down for a two-mile stretch in Benton County this Sunday (April 17) as crews remove an overhead power line.

The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department will shut down the interstate for three 15-minute periods between 7 and 8 a.m. Sunday, according to a department press release.

Both lanes of traffic will be stopped from Exit 78, State Highway 264, to Exit 76, Wagon Wheel Road.

Arkansas State Police will be directing traffic during the road closure. Traffic will be stopped prior to the exits so that drivers can go around the construction area. However, drivers are urged to find alternate routes so they can avoid the road closures altogether.
