Hogs Suffer Second Straight SEC Sweep

Arkansas falls to No. 2 Florida 8-2 Sunday for their second straight conference sweep.

FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) – Arkansas baseball suffered it’s second consecutive SEC sweep, this time at the hands of the No. 2 ranked Florida Gators at Baum Stadium on Saturday with an 8-2 loss.

A strong pitching start from junior Zach Jackson wasn’t enough to come away with a win. Jackson was pitching a potential no-hitter through his first five innings of work. But the hurler ran into trouble in the sixth frame of work walking in a run on a bases loaded hit by pitch. Jackson’s great start would come to an end leaving the bases loaded after 5 1/3 innings of work. The righty would finish the the day giving up four earned runs allowed on one hit with four walks and five strikeouts.

The Gators would go on to score eight runs the final four innings. Arkansas added runs on doubles by both Tucker Pennell and Jake Arledge plating Michael Bernal both times. Pennell also threw out three base stealers for a new season high in Sunday’s game.

Arkansas will have a mid-week non-conference game against Creighton on Tuesday with a 6 p.m. first pitch, before heading back out on the road to take on Kentucky.
