BENTON COUNTY (KFSM) — The Benton County Quorum Court will meet Monday (April 25) to hear from candidates interested in taking over as interim sheriff for the remainder of the year after Sheriff Kelley Cradduck handed in his resignation.

The Quorum Court will meet at 6 p.m. at the Benton County Administration Building where they will hold interviews with the eight candidates who have submitted resumes for the interim position:

Timothy Filbeck, Bruce Rutherford and Mike Jones also submitted resumes, but withdrew their interest last week.

The Benton County attorney outlined the interview process for each candidates, which can be seen here.

Cradduck submitted a letter of resignation to the Quorum Court April 11 and the following day the Justices of the Peace voted to approve $80,000 for a buyout. On April 15, the Quorum Court approved Cradduck’s resignation and began the search for an interim sheriff.

Cradduck is still facing a felony charge of tampering with public records and a misdemeanor charge of tampering in Benton County Circuit Court. He is scheduled to go to trial in September, but has a pretrial hearing scheduled for 1 p.m. on April 29.

An interim sheriff will be in place for the rest of 2016 and an elected sheriff will take over Jan. 1, 2017. Republican Shawn Holloway and Independent Glenn Latham are running for the position in the November general election.
