FORT SMITH (KFSM) -- Fort Smith police arrested a man in connection with a standoff Wednesday (May 4) afternoon.
The suspect was identified as Dylan Dempsey, 23, according to Sgt. Daniel Grubbs with the Fort Smith Police Department.
Police officers and SWAT team surrounded the home on Wilma Avenue around 12 p.m. after Dempsey barricaded himself in the home.
Officers on scene deployed tear gas and eventually Dempsey came out of the home. Police then placed him in handcuffs.
Dempsey was wanted on numerous charges including assault and for his involvement in a drive-by shooting, according to police.
Police said they may execute a search warrant on the home in the near future.
