Father, Son Arrested On Suspicion Of Possession Of Child Porn

FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) — A father and son were arrested Wednesday (May 4) on suspicion of possession of child pornography, according to court documents.

Garry Traphagan, 61, and Alex Traphagan, 21, were both booked into the Washington County Detention Center and released on $5,000 bond, jail records show.

The investigation began nearly two years ago when Canadian authorities noticed individuals posting links to child pornography in a chat room, according to the Traphagans’ probable cause affidavits.

The IP address and subscriber information led investigators to Garry Traphagan’s address in Fayetteville, the affidavits state.

Investigators found two computers at the residence; one belonging to Garry Traphagan, the other to his son Alex, according to the affidavits. They also found hard drives and an iPhone.

Two images of child pornography of girls appearing to be around five to seven were located on Alex Traphagan’s iPhone, the affidavits state.

Alex Traphagan admitted to investigators he had used various websites to get child pornography and traded the images with other users, according to the affidavits.

Investigators also examined Garry Traphagan’s computer and found multiple images of child pornography, the affidavits state. Garry Traphagan admitted to viewing pornographic images, but denied any knowledge of the images that contained child pornography, according to the affidavits.
