GREENWOOD (KFSM)- At the start of the game between Greenwood and Southside, the Rebels had an early 2-0 lead but after one swing of the bat from sophomore Connor Noland, it all changed. Nolan belted a three-run home run and the Bulldogs kept rolling, and powered past The Rebels for a 14-4 victory in their 6A state tournament tuneup.

"I was just trying to get the ball in play," said Sophomore Connor Noland. "And move those guys over it just happened to work out and go over the fence."

And for second-year Head Coach Trey Holloway he sees their battle back to win, as proof of how hard the team is willing to work going into state.

"It's all about battling through adversity, " said Holloway. "You know we were down early so it was good for us. You know our guys are going to battle, they are going to get after it and they are going to compete at every pitch. We have to win three to get to the state championship and I believe that if we play like we did today, we have a good shot at winning three games in a row."

Battling through adversity is apart of the Bulldogs motto...which kept them pushing on the field all season and will hopefully take them to the final round at Baum Stadium.

"Our motto was to being all-in," said Senior Jax Burgess. "It started in the off season to be all-in everything we do in the classroom on the field and it's really for our ultimate goal which is to win the state championship. And I think the team is all in the make that goal a reality."

The Bulldogs will play Arkansas (Texarkana, Ar) May 12th at 5:30 p.m. for the first-round of the 6A State Tournament. The Tournament will be played at Burns Park in North Little Rock.
