FORT SMITH (KFSM) — Police have arrested the man who led them on a vehicle pursuit Tuesday afternoon (May 10).

According to a release, a Fort Smith police officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop for false tags on a black 2013 Porsche near the intersection of South I Street and South 22nd Street.

Police stated that the Porsche led the officer on a brief pursuit, that ended due to the speed of the Porsche and erratic driving. An investigation revealed the vehicle to have been stolen in Tulsa, Okla.

The driver was identified as Brian Christopher Jones, 36, the release stated. He was wanted on a suspicion of theft by receiving and fleeing apprehension, carrying a $10,000 bond.

The vehicle was found abandoned near a residence on South Q Street.

Jones was eventually located at a residence on Old Greenwood Road on Saturday (May 14) and was convinced to surrender, according to Fort Smith Police Sgt. Daniel Grubbs.
